The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations At RHS Chelsea 2022

There are some big celebrations blooming in Britain this Spring. We are back at the RHS Chelsea Flower Garden Show in its traditional springtime slot after a hiatus of two years, and it’s the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee! For Chilstone this is an extra special anniversary, as we created our first ever stone ornament on the day of the Queen’s coronation, so it’s almost our 70th anniversary too. Across her majesty’s phenomenal 70-year reign, the Queen has attended Chelsea Flower Show more than 50 times, such is her love for the famous show bursting with floral displays. She also supports the RHS as a charity, so it is no wonder that the show has many Royal exhibits this year. FLORAL DISPLAYS FIT FOR A QUEEN The organisers and garden designers behind RHS Chelsea have pulled out all the stops and designed numerous displays to honour her majesty’s jubilee this year. THE QUEEN’S GATE From the moment visitors reach the gates they experience an impressive display, setting the tone for the ornate Jubilee celebrations, The grand Bullring Gate entrance has been transformed into a royal-style archway complete with three wicker crowns and a host of delicate, meadow florals. A breath-taking entrance making visitors feel like royalty on arrival. Everything used to make The Queen’s Gate will be re-used after the show! Chelsea is becoming more and more sustainable. The Queen’s Gate was designed by Shane Connolly and installed with the help of student florists. Other monarch-inspired displays include Natural Perspectives, an immersive jubilee garden installation by floral designers Veevers Carter, inspired by the colours, sounds and wildlife found at the Queen’s beloved Balmoral. It features a three-dimensional portrait of the Queen, made entirely from pressed flowers. JUBILEE GARDEN Another sculptural portrait to honour Her Majesty has been designed by Simon Lycett, who has created many floral displays for the royal family throughout his career. This includes a silhouette of the Queen in the official shade of purple chosen to represent the Platinum Jubilee. Surrounding the floral masterpiece are native British branches and 70 planters containing Lily of the Valley — the Queen’s favourite flower. The jubilee celebrations don’t end there! A monument surrounded by a selection of photographs spanning the Queen’s reign features in the Great Pavilion.
