Statues To Please The Gods

In Homer’s The Odyssey, Odysseus encounters Hades and his wife Persephone in the underworld when he visits his dead mother. Although she doesn’t feature in the new film, Persphone’s story is timeless. To become the wife of Hades and Queen of the underworld, a deal was struck with her mother the goddess Demeter. As part of that deal Persphone spent spring and summer with her mother asway from the dead, allowing gardens to bloom!
