Over the seventy years Chilstone has been in business we have worked on many property projects. From stylish, contemporary new builds to those with a nod to the past with Georgian window surrounds to Victorian, floral arches. This distinctive, new project has recently won awards for the architect who designed it at Satish Jassal. FROM SUBURBAN RENOVATION TO DREAM FAMILY HOME The original house was in a poor state of repair, so the dilapidated house was replaced with a six bedroom house over four floors (including the attic and basement). The family wanted to use architectural details and features from the surrounding properties to ensure the new build was in keeping with the neighbourhood. The new house has large sashed windows, made my Mumford and Wood, to maximise the light, a key feature of this property. We handmade the stone window surround to frame them, with a large feature picture window at the front. This distinctive detailing as an Art Deco flavour for that wow factor. FEATURE DETAILING FOR A FINE FINISH This home has an imposing door surround with stepped pillars and stone canopy frame to create a grand entrance. The stonework combines to make a striking feature, with a bespoke string course that wraps all the way around the property with a continuous pattern. This unites the two main aspects of the house and provides a quality finish to the whole design. The stepped articulated stone tracery around the picture window was handcrafted by our skilled craftspeople. All the stonework was created using hand tools and experience to achieve the fine finish, something that cannot be achieved to this standard with factory machinery. We are one of the few companies in the UK who still craft in an artisan workshop using traditional tools. We use modern design techniques, carefully mapping our design with CAD drawings, but we always strive to produce the traditional, quality finish our customers love. HANDMADE FOR A HIGH QUALITY FINISH The sharp lines and quality finish continue around the back of the property. The stone has a buttery tone to contrast the brick front and the grey mermaid scale roof tiles. We provide a colour matching service across our range of architectural stone and garden ornaments to compliment existing or new property features. Please just ask our team to advise you. The architects prioritised British made products to create this large property project. We were delighted to produce the extensive stonework by hand in our Kent Workshop.
