A Garden Gift For The Local Community and Wildlife

Trinity Theatre is an inclusive, vibrant arts charity in the heart of Tunbridge Wells. Housed inside a former church, designed by the famous Decimus Burton, Trinity offers children, young people and everyone opportunities to get involved and enjoy theatre and the community surrounding it.

Community Garden

When their team of gardening volunteers contacted us about their plans to landscape the area to encourage local birds into the theatre’s garden we knew just what would fit the bill. 

Gardener Josh explained his plans for the space, which thanks to the team, already has a bug hotel and a picnic area, to make it a welcoming garden for both local people and wildlife.

Handcrafted and Engraved

We hand crafted our classic, but impressive Penshurst Father Time Birdbath in our workshop just outside Tunbridge Wells. The texture of our fine cast stone helps songbirds to grip the rim with their feet. We never glaze our birdbaths as that would make it harder for the birds to perch and make them less likely to drink and bathe. Birdbaths provide a vital water source for wildlife all year round, especially during high and low temperatures in summer and winter when fresh water can be scarce, making them an important garden feature. We wanted to make our gift to Trinity extra special, so we asked our talented onsite engraver, Joe Hartfield to specially engrave the bowl in the Trinity font.

A Gift For The Whole Community

The birdbath was installed in the garden by our team where it was officially declared open for the local wildlife by Councillor David Osbourne, the Mayor of Tunbridge Wells. Our Chilstone team were joined by the staff and volunteers of Trinity Theatre to celebrate the new addition to their garden. Trinity Theatre has a vibrant community and now the local birds are catered for too.

We’d like to say a  big thank you to the Mayor, Trinity staff and the many volunteers who made this happen. Next time you visit the café, maybe you can enjoy a drink outside and see who flies by to visit the new garden birdbath too!
