The brand new OMEGA 1050 Modal & Inertial Shaker from MB Dynamics is a compact yet highly capable solution for structural testing, vibration analysis, and seismic simulation on larger structures such as buildings, bridges, and heavy machinery.
What sets the OMEGA 1050 apart is how it combines high force output with genuine portability. Despite delivering a 1000N sine peak excitation force and 50mm peak-to-peak displacement, the shaker weighs only 35kg. This makes it particularly useful for applications where equipment needs to be moved and set up on site. It even fits into the boot of a standard mid-size car — a practical advantage for engineers working across multiple locations.
Performance Built for the Field
Designed for modal and inertial testing, the OMEGA 1050 supports vertical payloads up to 150kg and operates across a DC to 500Hz frequency range. It features plain bearings for improved lateral force handling, and it can operate in both vertical and horizontal orientations — making it adaptable to a wide range of testing scenarios.
To ensure safety and reliability during extended use, the system includes integrated pneumatic load support, temperature monitoring, and laser displacement sensors, offering protection against overheating and overtravel.
Efficient Power and Setup
The OMEGA 1050 also offers flexibility in how it’s powered. A single MB A2500 amplifier can drive one shaker — or even two at once, in either in-phase or out-of-phase configurations — for larger or more complex tests. It runs on a standard 230VAC supply with a 16A breaker, helping to keep setup requirements straightforward.
