Finishing
Capalex Finished Products can offer a wide range of surface finishes including anodising, alocroming, polishing and electroplating in a variety of colours and finishes. Alocroming, also known as alodining and chromating, is a process that will not only provide a corrosion-resistant protective coating, but will also serve as an excellent primer for painting.Anodising is an electrolytic passivation process that increases a metals natural oxide layer. This, similarly to alocroming, increases the metals corrosion and wear resistance, as well as providing a much more adhesive surface for paints and glues. When used in conjunction with each other, anodising and alocroming can provide a sealant that doubles aluminium’s resistance to salt water when compared to just anodising.Capalex can also offer an on-site powder coating service. As well as powder coating sections and components extruded on site, Capalex can also offer a subcontract powder coating service for steel or aluminium parts up to 6 metres in length. Please do not hesitate to contact us regarding this service.Powder coating is a very durable method of providing a decorative finish to metals and a range of other materials. Our powder coating facility offers finishing in a variety of colours with RAL, BS or colour matched powders. We are able to powder coat both aluminium and steel components. Powder coating offers many advantages over other finishes including;- A wide range of finishes and colours including metallic, glossy, clear and textured. - Corrosion resistance. - Can be applied to most metal components including steel, Zinc, brass and aluminium. - The durable finish provides a surface finish which is less prone to chipping, marking and scratching. - Powder coating can be applied to components used internally and externally. The main finish reflects the gloss level of the final product, usually being Gloss, Satin or Matt. There is also the choice between Flat finish and Metallic. When choosing metallic powders Capalex always use the more expensive bonded powders as this gives a more uniform spread of metallic particles on the end product. If your product requires a metallic finish always ask if the powder is bonded or not. Also there are more uncommon finishes like Hammerite, Textured etc.For more information on finishes and colours available from our powder coating service please visit our website, ( http://www.capalex.co.uk/powder_coating.html ) where you can also find sections relating to anodising and alocroming.Capalex can also highly polished mirror finishes that would be suitable for applications such as reflectors, as well as for aesthetic vaule.
