Joint Templates Arches
Timber arch centres or turning pieces are made from a variety of materials. The recent extension and refurbishment at St Pancras Station used dense polystyrene laminated with a melamine surface. These were accurately laser cut to the CAD profile. Usually only a few of each arch type are required and it is more economic to use traditional timber formers. Fixed to the timber formwork will be a joint template. This shows the lines from which the arch was cut. These lines will assist the bricklayer to maintain a consistent joint width across the span of the arch.
