Add My Company
BGB is spanning into its fourth decade of supporting the global Wind Industry. What began with three founders spotting an opportunity to manufacture Brush Gear in the UK, a rarity at the time, has evolved into something much bigger.
As the company grew and expanded into Slip Rings, one thing became clear early on: long-term success would not come from doing everything ourselves, but from building strong, trusted partnerships across the industry. Rather than manufacturing brushes in isolation, BGB chose to form strategic alliances in support of accelerating innovation, and delivering greater value to customers.
That collaborative approach has paid off.
Over the past three years, BGB has supported a major OEM in the design and specification of a Slip Ring solution for their offshore flagship 15 MW turbine.
The challenge was clear:
> Maintain the highest quality standards
> Extend maintenance intervals for brush replacement
Working closely with our exclusive partner of BGB Brushes, we collectively designed and manufactured a new BGB Brush and Brush Holder solution that significantly extends service intervals, delivering real, measurable advantages in reliability and total cost of ownership.
Being a trusted partner is at the heart of our business Culture. This is supported by the operation of several climatic test chambers. Our experienced Team can closely simulate live conditions and duty cycles via varying temperatures; humidity; current and speed. While these new Turbines with our new solution are now being rolled off the production line and installed globally, we continue to test our solution to destruction, offering confidence and performance reliability.
The result? We are currently approaching 9 years of equivalent service life, with no signs of slowing down.
A great reminder that true innovation rarely happens alone, it’s built through trust, collaboration, and shared ambition.
