Southern Railway toilets get a vibrant make over

The passenger toilets on Gatwick Express trains get a fresh and bright interior refurbishment with inspired printed wall graphics. Southern Railway asked us to produce a solution to encourage female passengers to use their on-train facilities as well as brightening up what is always perceived as a smelly and dirty area. Our in-house team helped with the design to create British inspired images of city landmarks that are along the train route of Southern Railway's Gatwick Express Fleet. Our Lowestoft facility produced these images with 3M VHR 180 self-adhesive film with a durable and anti-graffiti laminate to ensure the best quality finish for this project with easy cleaning and maintenance. The experienced application team then came in for a full survey and surface preparation of the train surfaces. Over 14 weeks we completed 24 trains with each train having 5 toilet wraps. To ensured that the vehicle down time was minimal and did not have an impact on passengers during peak times we carried out the application over weekends only. Southern Rail were incredibly happy with this rail refurbishment and Aura Graphics team received positive feedback. The Fleet Service Quality Manager commented, “My hearfelt thanks for a truly professional job that was created by all. Since the very first weekend they [the application and paint teams] were always punctual and from where the chaps had to travel from was no mean feat. Once again many thanks for a job thoroughly well done.”
