Soapbox Debut Success for Atlas Southern
Remarkably The Great Dunmow Soapbox Race is now the second largest soapbox event after Red Bull and this is only the second year it has taken place. Organised by the Great Dunmow Round Table the event provides a wonderful day out and raises money for local charities and causes. The fundraising total for this year has so far reached £40,000 and Atlas are delighted to have played their part in the fun and the fundraising. All of Atlas Southern were there to support the race team of Paul Skingle, Simon Ford, Cullen Lavery and driver Wesley Graves who all did us proud. Having never built a soapbox or taken part in an event like this before we were delighted to register a very respectable time of 31.25 seconds on our first run. Despite making a few changes we were unable to improve on this time on our second run but finished 24th overall out of 50 entrants. The team are keen to return next year and are aiming for a top 10 finish! The day was a huge success with crowds well in excess of 10,000 people estimated to have been there to watch. A huge congratulations to all who took part and everyone who came to support the day, but particular thanks should go to the organisers, Great Dunmow Round Table, the sponsors and volunteers who put on a great show and made the day such a success.
