Find The Needle Add My Company
A Catch Up With….Terri Donaghue
We recently chatted with our Sales Advisor Terri Donaghue to find out about how Allied PPE began and what’s going on in the business and industry. Could you tell us a bit about your background? I have worked at Allied for 10 years. I started off as an Admin Assistant in the Production department through the company Apprentice scheme. From there I have worked through various Admin and Sales roles and now I am excited to be working as part of the sales team within Allied PPE. I am a married mum of two young children, so in my free time outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family. How did Allied PPE begin, and how has it grown since launching? The company was founded at the beginning of this year when the Scottish Government asked Chairman and founder of our parent company Allied Vehicles Group, Gerry Facenna, for his help in sourcing reputable suppliers for PPE in China. After a thorough period of research and analysis, the brand selected highly capable, reputable manufacturers who could work with our internal engineers to manufacture and supply large quantities of high-quality Type IIR face masks and FFP2 respirators at competitive prices. Since our launch, we have been able to supply our genuine masks and respirators from large quantities to sectors like businesses, council and trust organisations right down to individuals who are looking to ensure they are adequately protected. What does a normal day look like for you? Each day I speak to various, suppliers, brokers, sellers and customers. We deal with orders from one box to millions of face masks so each order is different. No two days in the office are the same! I am in constant contact with my customers, accounts and prospects via the telephone, email and on LinkedIn so I am kept really busy which is the way I like it. What are the biggest challenges you face in your role? The single biggest challenge is getting the point across to people that quality always wins! It is very frustrating when people compare our products to cheaper versions on the market when it comes to price. There are so many masks on the market that are just a bit of paper – no melt blown material – no adequate protection! It just baffles me why most people don’t seem to care about protecting themselves and others properly, so it is really important to me to continue communicating the message about how important quality is when it comes to selecting PPE. What do you enjoy the most? I like knowing that I am a part of keeping our customers and those around them safe. I enjoy keeping their life stress free when it comes to ordering their face masks. Most customers just pick up the phone, place an order and we ship their products out the next day – simple! I also enjoy speaking to other sales people in the PPE industry too because we can all learn from each other. Although it is very rewarding, it is also a very difficult industry to be in at the moment too and I am sure everyone working in PPE will agree. How do you think the PPE market will develop over the coming months? Do you think this is something that is here to stay in the UK and worldwide? To be honest I think this will be our way of life for some time yet. The pandemic has impacted every individual and business so massively and it is a devastating time for many. For now, it is so important that we all stick together, follow the rules and do what we can to keep everybody safe so that hopefully we can get back to normality in the future.
