Global experience helps Air Protekt’s UK sales go from strength to strength
Global experience helps Air Protekt’s UK sales go from strength to strength Winning four major emission control contracts from UK-based manufacturers during the past twelve months has enabled Cambridge based air pollution specialist, Air Protekt, to once again surpass more than £1 million of sales year on year. Two of the contracts, which involved supplying customised Regenerative Thermal Oxidation (RTO) systems have already been installed and commissioned. Air Protekt has equipped SGL Technic’s carbon fibre manufacturing facility in Muir of Ord, near Inverness Scotland, with a combined RTO system and a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system to remove Hydrogen Cyanide (HCN) contaminants. The second RTO system was supplied to Johnson Controls’ Wednesbury facility in the West Midlands, which produces car seats for major automotive vehicle manufacturers such as BMW, Mini and Range Rover. The RTO equipment was tailored to remove naphtha and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs) waste products from the processing of the polyurethane foam at the West Midlands plant. The two other major contracts wins focus on supplying Honeycat catalytic oxidation systems featuring efficient Platinum Group Metal catalysts. One Honeycat catalytic oxidation system is currently being installed at a coated laminate film manufacturing facility in Basildon, Essex operated by Neschen Coatings which was formerly Seal (UK). The second Honeycat catalytic oxidation contract is being fitted at Permali Gloucester’s manufacturing plant in Gloucester where Permaglass composite materials are produced. For all the projects Air Protekt provided a total package solution that embraces process assessment, project design, supply of the air pollution equipment, installation and commissioning. The air pollution specialist also provides a complete after sales service. “We have had a good year in terms of extending our UK user installed base. Ironically it has been the knowledge we have gained working on overseas air pollution projects that has given our UK sales drive a boost,” commented Trevor Lawton, Air Protekt’s managing director. “We find that most manufacturing groups operate facilities worldwide and prefer to implement air pollution control systems and strategies that can be replicated at their sister sites around the globe. For example, AirProtekt is the sole UK distributor of Regenerative Thermal Oxidisers for Lufttechnik Bayreuth (LTB) of Germany. LTB’s large installed base across Europe totals more than 100 RTO systems serving a diverse range of manufacturing industries. The huge amount of application knowledge we have gained working with LTB is certainly paying dividends for many of our UK customers.”
