Find The Needle Add My Company
An interview with Andy Turner
“I train most days at one or more of the three sports of triathlon, often combining sessions to simulate the transition section of a race. I can usually be found in Roundhay Park lake at 6:30 in the morning practicing open water swimming followed by a run before work. “I do a lot of bike training at Richard Dunn cycle track next door to ADL. I also take my training gear away with me on jobs. My favourite location so far has been E-Vapour (Bristol) where I get to train in the sea. “I’ve raced all distances up to half IronMan but I specialise in sprint racing which consists of a 750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run. “I recently raced in Dusseldorf at the European age group championships. I represented GB at age 30-34 and came 19th. I try to race as frequently as I can, my next races are Ellerton, Stockport, Leeds (where I’m the defending champion), Derby and maybe Rotterdam world championships if I qualify. “This season has been fairly steady so far with mostly top ten finishes. The only notable performance was a third place (age 30-34) at the English national Aquathlon Championships. “My next major goal in triathlon is to become a guide athlete for the visually impaired. This involves being tethered to another athlete and swimming, cycling (on a tandem) and running a normal triathlon while trying to communicate effectively to keep your athlete safe and fast. “I really appreciate the support and general interest from everyone at Advanced Dynamics and I’ll keep training and racing hard to try and get our logo on the top step of the podium.”
