METALTREAT IN RIGHT GEAR FOR PROJECT

Metaltreat Ltd is celebrating a long-standing partnership with a successful vintage car restoration company. The plant has partnered with fellow Bradford-based 2CV City on an ongoing project which has seen the plant called upon to galvanise all of the chassis’ the company produces as part of the renovation of old Citroen 2CVs. The ongoing project, which has seen the plant work with 2CV City for a number of years, has seen it galvanise all of the chassis’ the company manufacture. Since the model was discontinued in 1999, the cars have grown a large ‘nostalgic’ following not only across the UK but further afield too, with the company regularly shipping large orders to mainland Europe. Tony Shields, Founder of 2CV City, explained: “We’ve been working with Metaltreat for five years and send all our chassis’ to the plant to be galvanised. The original 2CVs didn’t actually have a galvanised chassis and were prone to rust and corrosion, so choosing this finish essentially means they will be longer lasting than the earlier model. “We’ve been manufacturing the cars for 20 years and the company has really grown, and we now send out around 300 chassis’ a year with people not only collecting the cars but using them as their personal vehicles. We have recently taken an order from France for 30 chassis’ which demonstrates the popularity of the vehicles not only in the UK but in their home country too.” Iain McBeath, Commercial Manager at Metaltreat, said: “Over the years, we’ve developed a great relationship with 2CV City, and we’ve seen the company go from strength-to-strength which is in no small part due to the quality and durability of the renovated cars.
