Christmas at SSC Laser

Festive Fun Well, just like every year, we can’t quite believe that December and Christmas have come around so quickly. We’ve most definitely got in the spirit this year, with the boys even being persuaded to join in with National Christmas Jumper Day.. check out the Bristol boys below posing around our laser cut Christmas tree! We’ve got staff itching to complete their projects, hang up their safety goggles and head on home at the end of the week for a good old chunk of Yule log, 3 mince pies each and a tot of mulled cider. It’s been a big year for SSC, and we’re hoping for an even bigger and better 2017 to come! SSC’s year started with our fantastic CEO Austin Jarrett deciding to complete a 230km race across the Arctic… just to ease ourselves in, of course. He made his way across frozen lakes, treacherous mountains and never ending snow fields, through temperatures that would dip down to minus 30 degrees. Why? We can hear you asking. Well, Austin decided to donate every single penny he made from his sponsorship to his chosen charities. In total, Austin raised a whopping £1459 which was divided between his chosen charities: The Eve Appeal, VSO, Oak Tree Farm Rural Project Limited. Though we’ve had a great year in general, it hasn’t been without its ups and downs – and what we’re alluding to here is the UK steel crisis, and the infamous Brexit. Tata Steel released information that after already cutting thousands of jobs since 2011, a further 1050 would be cut, due to India and China undercutting UK prices and Chinese steel imports increased dramatically between 2013 and 2014, which of course, had an impact on SSC. We had to ensure that we were getting the best steel prices, which meant we had to be more proactive in getting the best rate. Though we did have to increase prices, we made it our aim to do so as fairly and with as little impact as possible, by searching relentlessly for the best rates that could be found.
