Find The Needle Add My Company
Does every Employee in your business have the proper training

At regular intervals, their performance would be assessed, and if any issues came to light, appropriate actions could be taken; some more training, a move to another job in the company etc.

But, what about your business website??

When you think about it, your website is your 24hr a day, 7 days a week Salesperson and Customer service representative.

But have you ever given thought to assigning a ‘job’ to the pages on your website?

Of course, all should be welcoming, well laid out, and informative, but there is more to it than that.

First, we have the matter of converting visitors to customers. Does the layout of the pages make it easy for the visitor to do what they want (and you want), e.g. to find out the answer to a question, to buy something, or to contact you?

Secondly, you have to consider how you are going to get visitors to your site in the first place.

There are many ways of doing this of course, email marketing, TV adverts, Google Adwords,  and of course SEO (Search Engine Optimisation).

If SEO is one of the ways you want to drive traffic to your site, you have to do things in a certain way, to lay out the pages ‘just so’, to interlink them (and get enough backlinks to the domain so that Google ‘trusts’ it).

SEO is built around the desire to be listed for relevant search terms, the ones that people are using and which are more likely to gain you some business.

Therefore, it is vital to understand not only what terms you want your site to be found for, but also WHICH PAGES have the ‘job’ of being found for EACH TERM.

Only when you know that and have implemented the necessary changes have you truly written the ‘job description’ for the pages on your site.

And that means you can run regular checks to see how they are doing, and where necessary can take action, like to re-write the copy to improve the optimisation, add more internal links, or get some more backlinks to the page in question.

So the message here is to have a think, to consider whether this ‘business asset’ is being properly managed, it could make a REAL difference to your business…
