East Riding Haltemprice Leisure required a pool lift solution to make its small pool accessible and inclusive to all. The Pool Lift Company were asked to provide a suitable portable pool lift solution. With a fixed pool hoist already in place for the large swimming pool, East Riding Haltemprice Leisure were eager to find a solution for its small pool which has steps. This would enable users with limited movement due to their physical disabilities and those who are unable to weight bear themselves, step free access to the shallow small pool where they can benefit from a warmer water temperature. Due to the build of the small pool and its surrounding area, a portable pool lift solution was required which would also eliminate any structural alterations. The Pool Lift Company recommended its Blu-Pod Portable Pool Lift, which is compact, easy to manoeuvre and can be easily stored when not in use. Other operator benefits include being able to transfer users from the changing room to the pool side in a safe, comfortable and dignified manner. As a result of a successful application to the National Lottery Community Fund Awards who provides grants to support matters to people and communities, East Riding Haltemprice Leisure were able to proceed in conjunction with the Maxi Fun Club with buying the Blu-Pod Portable Pool Lift. This portable pool lift is now in use and providing step free access to the small pool for members, everyday visitors and swimming clubs such as the ERYDSA Haltemprice Dolphins and the Maxi Fun Club for disabled people in the area. Tony Hatley who is one of the volunteers that helps run the Maxi Fun Club was instrumental in the purchasing of the new portable pool lift. He says: "Maxi Fun Club and ERYDSA Haltemprice Dolphins members who were unable to access the small pool due to their physical needs are now able to do so. They are also able to enjoy the small swimming pool during public sessions.
