Glasstextile Wallcoverings Fire Safety in Public Buildings. Glasstextile Wallcoverings play an important role in fire safety by preventing spread of flame on the surface of most conventional building materials. Glasstextile wallcoverings meet the most stringent international wallcovering fire regulations.

Painted glasstextile surfaces prevent flames from spreading horizontally along room or corridor walls and equally important resist flames spreading vertically into ceiling spaces.

Glasstextile Wallcoverings have achieved many fire certificates. Extracts are listed in the table below assuring end users that, in addition to looking elegant and decorative, painted glasstextile wallcoverings will not contribute to a fire.

Acts as a protective membrane to substrate preventing: 1 & 2. Horizontal spread of flames to door or window 3. Vertical spread up wall surface to ceiling space. 4. Spread along corridor walls to cut off adjoining rooms 5 & 6. Spread into staircase or lift lobby areas. All combinations of product tested and tabulated meet the requirements of a Class 'O' Surface to Regulation E15, UK Bulding Regulations 1991.

Glasstex Fibre Glass Wallcoverings are for any substrate, smooth gypsum walls, masonry concrete, wood and chipboard can all be covered with Glasstex. In older buildings with different wall surfaces the textured wallcoverings achieve structural and colour uniformity to all areas.

For those who design and maintain buildings prevention and control of fire is a vital concern which needs to be considered not least on interior finishes. With Glasstex imaginative design need not be sacrificed to ensure compliance with fire retardant regulations or to meet clients budgets. The natural fire retardant properties of our wallcoverings means we have easily achieved a class 'O' certification as defined in UK building regulation 2000. Remember there is no need to use costly fire retardant paint systems when you can get the protection required every time using Glasstex Fibre Glass Wallcoverings and normal water based paint systems.
