When finished, the building with it’s 100m + facade, will be a combination of both new and refurbished spaces providing 15 apartments, office space and retail at street level. A total of twenty systems were provided, eighteen to monitor the water flow in the retail units with an additional two systems, one for the residential water services the other for the offices. All systems were provided with motorised water shutoff valves and remote mutable sounder with flashing beacon Each BLDA1-2 system is fully programmable to suite users’ requirements, with the alarm unit connected to a pulsed output water meter and shutoff valve installed to the main water supply. The system monitors the flow of water through the meter, raises an alarm and shuts off the water supply when the flow passing through the meter exceeds the pre-set maximum for a pre-set period of time. The unit also monitors for a continuous flow of water and raise an alarm if it doesn’t see a gap in the flow patten. By setting realistic flows and time periods any increase above the user defined settings will be detected and can be dealt with thereby saving water and limiting damage caused by a major leak.
