Low cycle fatigue testing is usually run in strain control with the load being a dependent variable. Test frames can be utilised to subject the specimen to a specified wave type (sinusoidal, triangular, trapezoidal, or a custom form). Additional variables are frequency (and hold), mean strain, strain amplitude, and discontinue cycles.
