Cambridge City Council's Energy Supplier

Opus Energy won the tender to become Cambridge City Council's Energy Supplier in 2004 as a result of providing the lowest priced energy quote. Since taking over the contract, Opus Energy has supplied electricity to 580+ sites across the city, 539 of these sites have had smart meters installed. Opus Energy continues to be the first choice for Cambridge City Council year after year. Cambridge City Council has been able to make significant savings, due to Opus Energy’s competitive electricity pricing. This in turn reduced its operational costs, allowing the Council to invest the money into other areas. Opus Energy has installed smart meters across 539 of Cambridge City Council’s sites. Getting regular meter readings from all of Cambridge City Council’s sites has been historically difficult; the installation of smart meters has ensured that accurate monthly readings are obtained. The accurate billing information has resulted in improved budgeting and cost forecasting. It has also enabled real-time monitoring of energy consumption, leading to greater transparency and evaluation of energy-saving measures implemented by the Council. During the course of Cambridge City Council’s contract, Opus Energy’s account management team has delivered a consistently high level of service. With their industry-wide expertise, Account Managers have a strong understanding about the Council’s requirements. This has resulted in increased efficiency when responding to queries, and has also improved the Council’s overall energy portfolio management.
