Norfolk Pamments are terra cotta floor tiles, which have been handmade from regional clays in the traditional way by skilled craftsmen. Despite being 'Norfolk' pamments they will look at home anywhere. Pamments are "as good as old" and what gives them this unique quality is the irregularity in colour and surface which are characteristic of traditional pamments. Similarly to the original pamments, Norfolk Pamments are not mass produced with sophisticated machinery (which is the case with most imports), which results in a homogenous clay and a uniform product. It is the imperfections in them which make them come alive. They are highly durable and should last for a few generations. We use local clays: Ely clay for dark red pamments, as well as Norfolk clay for terracotta colour pamments and King's Lynn clay which is for our new parti colour pamments. Pamments are extensively used for barn, house and cottage renovations in addition to sites of historic interest, but equally they can add individuality to contemporary houses and conservatories. Having fantastic thermal retention qualities, they are perfect with underfloor heating.
