Hynes Optometry challenged Mewscraft to come up with different design concepts to refresh their practice. They felt that their current practice was outdated and, in particular, free standing displays were blocking customer flow through the practice and reducing the visual contact between staff and customers. They also had an inconvenient step in the floor inside their main entrance. These concepts were to include displays, furniture, colour scheme, lighting and flooring. It was important for them that the space be functional and meet the everyday needs of their very busy practice yet also maintain an aesthetically pleasing style. This style was to be modern, but balanced with traditional elements, to attract new customers whilst ensuring they did not alienate any of their existing loyal patients. We worked closely with Joy and Colin Hynes throughout the design process to ensure that their vision was fully realised. Using a combination of displays from our Concept.s range and bespoke furniture designed in-house, we integrated walnut finishes throughout the design beautifully contrasted with gloss white display units. This gave the balanced traditional feel that Joy was looking for without it being overpowering. Gloss black framed display units with LED illumination not only created eye catching features but added an extra dimension to the space.
