ISM Celebrates 25 Years’ Dedication to the Door-Entry Sector ‘Reliable…built to last… genuine value for money’ – three phrases companies are keen to pin to their door-entry products. But how many door-entry systems withstand the rigours of two decades and counting? As it celebrates 25 years of manufacturing excellence, door-entry specialists and PSIM pioneers, ISM has dug into its archives to reveal that the very first concierge system it supplied in 1991 for Woolwich Common is still going strong. Grant Jenkins, ISM’s door-entry specialist explains the reasons behind this commendable longevity. “Quality is at the heart of every system we supply,” he says. “But crucially, we guarantee to hold spare parts for a minimum of 10 years. This means that clients can repair their system instead of being shoehorned into the costly – and what’s now seen as environmentally irresponsible – option of replacing it lock, stock and barrel because the parts are no longer available. Our door-entry systems are environmentally responsible over the long term.” Jenkins, who works with a number of local authorities also commented, “I know from talking to decision-makers in each authority that they’re not swayed by what at first sight appears to be a low initial cost of a door-entry system. It’s the whole-of-life cost calculations they want to see and it’s this figure that influences their decision. Because the demand now exists for a quality product that can withstand many years of hard use, we have been able to claim the position of being a cost-competitive provider of reliable, built-to-last door-entry systems in a market previously dominated by low entry prices, but with high ongoing maintenance costs. In the past year we have won many contracts to install our Compact and Ultimate door-entry systems in several boroughs, including Crawley and Haringey. ‘Built to last’ is our motto and as we celebrate our 25th anniversary, it summarises our ethos and our approach to manufacturing.”
