Playground Surface At Whitstable Castle Is Cleaned Posted on Friday 23rd November, 2012 The play area at Whitstable Castle in Kent is a popular tourist spot in the summer and winter. Whitstable has become very popular with families coming from London to experience an old fashioned seaside experience. Originally installed in 2010 with a Seaside/ Pirate Themed play equipment and SSP artificial grass safety surfacing it has seen extensive use. The area had been creatively designed with a recycled water play system running through it and timber sculptures of treasure chest , fish to inspire children’s imagination and play. Artificial grass with proplay inpact matting was choosen by the Whitstable Castle Trust and Canterbury City Council to provide a year round flooring suitable for high usage. SSP was invited back to carry out maintenance on the existing synthetic surfacing and to remove the sand area and resurface with artificial grass during 2012. The area was power swept and minor repairs were carried out. New artificial grass flooring was installed over the old sand pit and joined in to the existing surface. SSP maintenance ensures the area remain a safe place to play and complies with insurance and health and safety requirements.
