Access Access to the xCONTROL HYBRID can be achieved locally via RS-232 or from any location via HTTP, SSH, Telnet, Serial or dial-up with an external modem. The xCONTROL HYBRID also has an ethernet port for TCP based access. Advanced Applications xCONTROL HYBRID series is designed to provide two functions in a single unit: serial console and power control of attached devices. The ethernet card can be replaced with a modem card. In typical enterprise implementations, the xCONTROL HYBRID is commonly deployed with the modem card and the unit is dedicated to manage the external or network-edge devices such as the CSU/DSU or broadband modem, the external router, thefirst-level firewall gateway, or the managed switch for the public/DMZ segments. In this implementation, the xCONTROL HYBRID offers remote administrators the ability to resolve edge-devices and connectivity issues even if the broadband connection is down. Control Administrators can gain access to any console device attached to the xCONTROL HYBRID, as well as turn on, off or reboot any or all devices plugged into the xCONTROL HYBRID’s receptacles. xCONTROL HYBRID series devices, working in conjunction with the SSL-UAG+, offer the highest security possible for remote serial console access. In models without the SSH enabled, the transmission is encrypted by the 128-bit SSL encrypted by default. In models with the SSH enabled, the transmission is double-encrypted with SSH under SSL.
