Bishnoi: Eco-warriors
A community in service of nature and wildlife One of the most interesting good news stories of 2022 is about India's Bishnoi community. A story that, personally, gives me hope in humanity. The Bishnoi are a sect have sacrificed their lives to protect animals and trees since the 15th century. Their inspiration comes from Amrita Devi who died to save the village's trees from being chopped, her family members and other villagers who came to support them. The story of Devi is as inspirational as the work the Bishnoi people do today. Their devotion to rescuing and shielding wild animals from the area (up to a 50km of radius) is not the only thing that sets them apart. Their determination to protect the environment goes as far as adjusting their lifestyle to be more harmonized with nature for generations and generations. They are also actively assuring that wildlife protection laws are applied adequately. The world can't turn its back on where we are now, start over, and live Bishnoi's people's lifestyle. But the most important when reading stories that bring us hope and light is to extract the tiny bits we can implement in our lives. The Bishnoi are about 1.5 million. If everyone who celebrated this story implements good habits in their lifestyle, I can affirm that the number would grow to billions. Which other communities' effort like this have a noticeable impact on our climate change fight? Let's discuss it in the comments section! And share the article to give your circle day a dose of positivity! If you want to know more about the Bishnoi, check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvSBqelB-R0
