ENCASEMENT HELPS COMMUNITY SPIRIT AT NEW WISBECH CENTRE
As part of a £330,000 project to extend and refurbish the Rosmini church community centre in Wisbech, the designers and contractors have chosen n-case column casings from Encasement to conceal the structural columns in the centre’s new restaurant and coffee shop. The centre has long been a part of the community and provided a range of educational and support services to people of all ages living in and around the Wisbech area. However, it became clear that issues such as DDA compliance and the need to expand its scope of services to meet demand meant that the centre would need to undergo a significant change to accommodate these needs. In addition to an extensive refurbishment of the existing facilities, a two storey extension was added as part of the project which provides a range of additional education facilities, meeting rooms and even reflexology and therapy rooms as well as a new ground floor coffee bar and restaurant, where Encasement’s column casings are used to conceal the steel structural columns Five 300mm diameter n-case column casings, each 3 metres high were supplied by Encasement in just three days from receiving the order together with contrasting colour collars, which were installed by the contractors onto octagonal plinths tiled to match the floor finish and integrate with the overall design. Anita Grodkiewicz, the centre’s Development Manager, said: “The new facilities are fantastic and the coffee shop has become a focal point and meeting place for everyone who uses the centre, so it gets a lot of use. The light coloured column casings add contrast to the dark tiled floor and help create a pleasant relaxing environment.”
