Solis Air Brick shortlisted for Innovation of the Year award

We are delighted to have been shortlisted in this year’s Wales Property Awards.  Our Solis Air Brick has made it on to the shortlist for Innovation of the Year.  As a proud Welsh manufacturer, we couldn’t be happier to have been included in these prestigious awards.

Wales Property Awards celebrate the work done in the property and construction industries across Wales. The shortlists are selected by Insider Media Ltd.’s panel of independent judges.  Insider is the UK’s most successful regional B2B media company, with its six regional B2B magazines read every year by over 200,000 subscribers.

Domus ventilation was invited to participate in the awards earlier this year and our already award-winning Solis Air Brick seemed a good fit.

The Solis Air Brick was one of the first Building Regulations Approved Document B (fire safety) compliant air brick of its kind.  The revised Building Regulations requires all ductwork penetrating through the external cavity, including termination, to be non-combustible when above 18m in England and Wales, and above 11m in Scotland; this rules out the use of plastic air bricks for external terminations on ventilation systems above these heights. The Solis Air Brick range is made from non-combustible material, making it fully compliant as it meets the requirements stated in Approved Document B.

Furthermore, Solis can be supplied in various RAL colours maintaining compliance to Building Regulations Part B.  The result is a safe, compliant product that contributes to a building’s ventilation and is aesthetically pleasing.

We will have a new bezelled version of the Solis Air Brick, which will be available very shortly.

In the meantime, we await the outcome of the Wales Property Awards with keen anticipation.  The awards ceremony will be held on Thursday 15th June at Cardiff City Hall.
