Medical cabinets are essential items for every household, school or workplace. You never know when an accident might happen and need urgent attention. You don’t need a medical degree to really make a difference in the short term when someone has cut their knee, hit their head or skidded on a coffee spill. If you’re wondering what to put in your medical cabinet, we’ve compiled a list of the 10 essential items that should be in all first aid storage cabinets.

1) Sticking plasters. If someone cuts themselves, they’ll need to quickly stem the bleeding and protect the wound. Keep a mixture of sizes of both fabric and waterproof plasters.

2) Antiseptic wash. A dirty wound can quickly become infected, potentially leading to far worse problems, so make sure you clean it gently with cotton-wool buds.

3) Gauze. This breathable fabric is very useful for dressing and protecting wounds.

4) Scissors. These become very handy when you need to cut a gauze or bandage down to the correct size, and a dedicated first-aid pair ensures you don’t want to have to hunt around different departments in an emergency situation.

5) Bandage. The time-honoured way to wrap a wound and keep it protected. Now you can get hold of the Velcro-fastening kind which is easier than ever to apply.

6) Tweezers. These come in handy for removing small stones and thorns from the skin, as well as painful ingrown hairs and nails.

7) Insect bite/sting treatment. A wasp or hornet attack can be very painful but is easily treated so keep this product at hand at all times.

8) Adhesive tape. From fastening gauze pads to forming a splint, this essential item comes in very handy.

9) Instant ice packs. Cooldown bumps and bruises even when ice is not readily available with these single-use packs.

10) Latex gloves. Stay clean and protected when tending to infections or handling hazardous substances with these.

Medical cabinets should be kept safe, secure and within easy reach. If you are looking to purchase one, 3Dlockers has a range to suit your requirements.
