Rent free stainless MIG gas - Stainless Steel (SS50)
A MIG only gas designed for welding stainless steel perfect for thicknesses of between 3 and 10mm. This gas gives the best level of penetration, weld speed and spatter control compared to other gas mixes. It is a three gas mix of 50% helium (hence SS50) 48% Argon and 2% Carbon Dioxide.
Helium when used with welding gives a hotter arc so you may have to change your welding speed and/or adjust your welders parameters. TIG welders looking to weld stainless steel should look to the AL50 mix which is ideal for TIG welding thicker sections of stainless.
