TIPPING – GOVERNMENT CONSULTATION WELCOMED
26-05-2016
The government are currently in the middle of a 2 month consultation period on possible ways to increase transparency as to where diners tips actually go.
Consideration is being given to the adoption of a statutory code of practice in place of the current voluntary code.
Ufi Ibrahim, CEO of the British Hospitality Association said “Transparency is precisely what we asked the Government to consider – customers should be able to reward good service and know where their money ends up and how much of it goes to staff.”
There is a lot of discussion between industry representatives some believing there isnt an issue to fix whilst others clearly not in agreement.
The consultation will end on the 27th June.
