Once bitten twice smitten Lambeth Living is one of London’s largest housing associations, tasked with managing 29,000+ tenant and leaseholder properties on behalf of Lambeth council. When the existing door-entry infrastructure needed replacing on a number of blocks of flats on the Amesbury Avenue social housing estate in Streatham, South London, SCCI Alphatrack, (specialists in fire, data and security) replaced the ISM manufactured and installed system with ISM’s new, improved Compact telephone entry system. Despite 15 years of robust and faultless performance, the old system had nevertheless reached the end of its natural life cycle. Renewal was the only option if ongoing operational and maintenance costs were to be pegged at minimum levels. High levels of ‘back engineering’ were crucial for the installation to be pronounced cost-effective and environmentally responsible. For example, the council wanted to utilise existing containment (trunking) and switchgear. Because the Compact system was simply a newer, fresher and more up to date version of the existing system the installation process was swift and painless with minimal disruption to tenants and the environment and, the maximum use of existing materials. Designed and manufactured by ISM in the UK, The Compact Series Functional Telephone Entry System is an innovative product, developed to meet the precise needs of local authorities and housing associations and their tenants. It was borne out of ISM’s 23 plus years’ experience of working with local authorities, housing associations, landlords and installers. Whilst The Compact Series Functional Analogue Door Entry System is a high specification system that exceeds the most rigorous of requirements, installation is straightforward and painless. The System is also robust, reliable and competitively priced with quality and functionality at its very heart. Stephen Smith, Sales and Marketing Director at ISM said, “The system has a powerful CPU so it offers the most advanced digital technology with analogue audio. It has been designed to make installation as simple as possible. We also have an unflinching focus on keeping the cost of installation and ongoing maintenance as low as possible. This is of increasing importance to local authorities, charged with improving service levels but on ever tighter budgets.” The system cable requirements are a 3 pair CW1308 or Cat5e to handsets and entrance panels (plus lock release power for entrance panel). The system also includes diagnostics that indicate the status of faults via the LCD BST time clock display using Electronic Fault Text Indication Technology (EFTI).
