WORLD TOURISM DAY 2019 “TOURISM AND JOBS - A BETTER FUTURE FOR ALL”

We thought this was an interesting international day that after some research proved its worth as a date in the international calendar. Started in 1970 by the United Nations the World Tourism Day is designed to raise awareness of tourism and the benefits it can bring to many people and places across the world, the campaign also highlights the drawbacks and negative impact tourism can have if not properly managed and address issues such as fair pay, gender equality. Tourism employs hundreds of thousands of people across the globe and is a large user of promotional items and we are privileged to work with some great companies and organisations in the industry. Recently we have noticed an increase in demand for promotional travel products which are sourced from Eco sustainable materials and many clients are also choosing to avoid single use plastic items. Being based in Cornwall in the South West of England we are also acutely aware of the impact tourism can have on our own local areas and workforce, many of our beaches now organise beach clean ups to remove unwanted items and plastic causing many to consider the impact of single use items on the local environment. We continue to explore new options for sustainable and Eco promotional products and would love to work with anyone interested in developing a campaign with an environmental twist. With a huge choice of alternative eco products available it’s not only the tourist industry that could benefit, removing single use plastics from hospitality and catering can also have a huge impact. We work with many companies in recent months who have replaced single use cups and plastic tumblers in favour of reusable water bottles and travel mugs which have been well received by employees and clients alike.
