Axon' inaugurates its new factory in Hungary

One year after the first stone was laid, Axon’ will inaugurate its new factory in Kecskemét on 21st May and will celebrate its anniversary. Already set up in Hungary for 15 years as Axon’ Kábelgyártó Kft., the leading provider of composite cables, connectors and cable assemblies for high tech markets made the decision to build its own factory. The construction of the building based on sustainable development progressed very quickly. A major investment Axon’ has just completed a major investment in a green field production site in Kecskemét. The factory is in the heart of the new industrial zone, the location of major automotive industry developments. The building design started in late 2013, construction began in May 2014 and was completed in February 2015. The total factory surface area of almost 5 500 m² and includes virtually 1000 m² of ISO 7 Class clean room, suitable for the production of high precision products for automotive and medical electronics. Energy efficiency Axon’ has made energy efficiency a watchword in the construction of this prestigious new building. Renewable energy sources have been established, including a solar power electricity station, solar collectors for hot water, efficient air-source heat pumps and energy saving LED lighting. State-of-the-art building insulation materials ensures very little energy loss, and CO2 emissions are zero in normal weather conditions, only coming into being during extremely cold (sub -15°C) temperatures if the contingency gas heating is required. The end result is a highly energy efficient new factory, which has been awarded the coveted ‘A+ Class’ building certification. The plush new factory has been beautifully landscaped, with 160 new trees planted, along with several hundred plants and shrubs. Long term, the company sees opportunities with this state-of-the-art building, to implement more efficient production processes and energy saving operations – all aimed at improving competitiveness and overall customer satisfaction. A sustainable company This is not the first time that Axon’ is involved in eco-construction projects. In 1993, Axon’ renovated a former dairy farm and transformed it into a Research and Production centre next to the French headquarters. In 1996, the company set up a factory by renovating a cloister next to a 12th century abbey in Orbais l’Abbaye. In 2011, Axon’ increased its production capabilities with a new 3000 m² eco-friendly building with green roofing in Montmirail. The same year, the Axon’ Latvian subsidiary launched a project of building insulation and energy consumption monitoring of its factory in Daugavpils. At the end of October 2013, the German 26-staff team moved to brand new premises. Not only was the objective to build a comfortable and well organized workplace but also to have a sustainable construction. About Axon Kábelgyártó Kft.
