With the Mars Orbiter Mission Mangalyaan released into orbit around Mars on 24th September 2014, this is the 3rd Martian experience for Axon’. Within the Orbiter developed by ISRO, the Indian Space Agency, connections manufactured by Axon’ transmit data to the electronic devices. With Rover Curiosity, exploration space-probe Maven and now Mangalyaan, Axon’ Cable contributes to clear up mystery of the Red Planet. Space challenge Either for Maven or the Indian Mission, Axon’s challenge was to design reliable and space saving links which resist to the harsh environment conditions in space. Mangalyaan is equipped with bus cabling system designed to transmit data between the electronic devices of the Indian Orbiter. Marven is connected with AxoMachTM , patented high data rate links, which will transmit serial data rates 10 times more than high speed internet connections. Axon’ has designed a cable assembly terminated with 2 miniature connectors for the ChemCam of Curiosity which has to explore the soil of the Red Planet. A long-term space heritage The French-based global advanced technology company has long experience supplying these high reliability networks to the Ariane launch vehicle and numerous satellite platforms. Equipped with several dedicated clean rooms, the group is very well versed in the requirements and challenges of space applications: weight saving, miniaturization, and materials designed for severe environments.
