TRIC Rope Bursting System Used in Rising Main Replacement

TRIC Rope Bursting System Used in Rising Main Replacement
12/05/2017

Trenchless Solutions were invited to tender by the @One Alliance Gas and Water Division for the replacement of approximately 1000m of 100mm asbestos cement rising main with 110mm SDR17 PE100. After an initial site visit and walking the route we realised because of the layout, the amount of bends in the rural road and the existing pipeline that if we chose to use our Rod/ Ladder systems we would require significantly more launch and reception pits or the rods wouldn’t follow the line of the original pipe.

Owning and operating a varied selection of rod, rope and ladder pipe bursting systems it was decided that our M50 TRIC rope bursting system www.trictools.com would be ideal for the project.

Pulling force: 48 tons @ 5,000 psi Piston area: 19.24 square inches Hydraulic flow rate: Maximum 20 GPM Cable size: Maximum 7/8” (22mm) swaged Puller weight: 185 pounds 12” pulley base: 95 pounds 24” x 24” resistance plate: 50 pounds 20’ x 24” resistance plate: 40 pounds

The overall scheme was split into three visits and completed within a total of seven days, due to initial planning and working closely with the client the scheme was delivered within the allotted time and budget.
