Bow Road Station is a London Underground station on the District and Hammersmith and City lines, located in Bow, east London. The station was opened in 1902 by the Whitechapel & Bow Railway (which was later incorporated into the District Line), with the Hammersmith & City Line (then the Metropolitan Line) following in 1936. The station booking hall is now a Grade II listed building. Overview The façade of Bow Road Underground Station includes sand stone window surrounds and similarly coloured brickwork. Both the window surrounds and brickwork had deteriorated over time. The window surrounds had previously been repaired with a contrasting coloured mortar. Several of these repaired areas had deteriorated and required new repairs to be undertaken, together with additional repairs to the original sandstone. The brickwork face had spalled in areas and also required repair. Repair materials were to be weatherproof, have a high bond strength to the existing substrate, and match the existing colours as closely as possible. Application Repairs were carried out to the weathered and delaminated brickwork and sandstone stonework using Ronafix mix A. The minimum depth was 6mm. Colour matched materials were manufactured especially for this project.
