Rebuild of the URC Hall into the Mead Centre.
This page is for those interested in the rebuild of the URC Hall into the Mead Centre. Members and friends of the United Reformed Church, located in the High Street under the archway opposite Nationwide Building Society, are looking to rebuild their hall. We have gained Planning Permission in May 2015 and have 3 years to get this work started. Following a successful refurbishment of the Church building which was completed in 2006, we now feel it is time to bring the hall up to the same standard. The hall is a great space with a central hall and siderooms; but it is now dated and needs much work doing on it from new flat roof and windows to a replacement heating system. The vision is to have a multi use space that is usable by all ages and can be flexible enough to accommodate a variety of activities, and is ultimately well used and fit for purpose. We aim to rebuild the hall and create a large double height hall, a series of meeting rooms, a Sensory Room, catering standard kitchen and buggy park. We would love to have involvement from people in the local comunity, hall users and other interested parties as we move forward with plans and with fundraising for this project. We also encourage people to donate on a regular basis to the fundraising. See email below or message us for more information. Our mission as a Church is 'At the Centre of the Town, at the Heart of the Community' and we want to ensure the space we create meets the needs of Church and community. If you are interested in getting involved in the rebuild, through fundraising or to publicise what is going on, or fancy getting involved in any way please contact: revdjmills@btinternet.com
