Peter Bakers half century

Meir is involved in sponsoring Peter Baker a bike rider from West Winch Norfolk. He is one of this country's most successful club/national level motorcycle racers, having completed 13 years circuit racing and never finished out of the top 3 in any of the championships. Having started racing in 1995 on 600cc Supersport, in 2003 he moved to 1000cc Superbikes / Superstock and has now accumulated 14 titles. After winning the 2008 Powerbike title and finishing 3rd in the Superstock 1000cc Championship on the same bike, Peter rounded off the season by competing in the "Race of the Year" event at Mallory Park, where with a full grid of 32 riders many of whom were British Superbike stars Peter was able to qualify and on a much lower specification machine than the front runners finished a creditable 7th, easily the fastest of the non BSB entries and improved his personal best lap time along the way. Having started racing at the age of 36, Peter will be a "Half Century" 50 years old before this season even begins, with most of his rivals being in their teens to mid 30s. But, Peter does not see this as a problem or handicap and relishes the new season as an exciting new challenge. For 2009 Peter will be riding Morello Services FULL British Superbike specification Suzuki GSXR1000. Complete with a range of electronic aids such as Motech, traction control, it is both powerful and highly technical, and is the most competitive bike he has ever ridden. For the 2009 season, we will be supporting Peter in his campaign to win the Morello Services sponsored MRO Power bike and the Thundersport GB championships.
