Leaf Wiping is carried out by using a small device to manually wipe each leaf with a coating of concentrated herbicide. This method offers a direct hit to the desired area with less wastage and run-off into the surrounding environment. It is a suitable option for small areas, immature plants or when the infestation is near desirable plants or conserved areas. Like other herbicide treatments leaf wiping targets the rhizomes and normally clears an infestation within two to five years. Weather conditions must be favourable for both herbicide spraying and leaf wiping to ensure a sufficient dry time for the herbicide is given.
