Find The Needle Add My Company
RAC National Student of the year
J & E Hall’s apprenticeship scheme has been recognised through its recent success at the RAC National Student of the Year Award. The Awards saw a particularly high number of entrants across all areas of the industry but after the judges had debated, deliberated and discussed who should earn the title the Award went to George Shepherd (Dartford Apprentice). George had all the right attributes combined with the right attitude, the judges were also impressed with the high level of maturity in his work ethic, George was also recognised for his development and experience in the industrial sector. J & E Hall re-introduced its four-year apprenticeship scheme in 2009. The aim was to develop home grown, competent and qualified service engineers. The trainees receive first class tuition on refrigeration and engineering techniques. In return the company attracts the right people at the beginning of their career who it can develop to suit the needs of the business in the future. The company invests heavily in training and developing new employees as it recognises that the rewards are many and can lead to a great career for the trainees in the industry. Apprentice Mentor Andy Bailess says “Trainees are the lifeblood of our business and the industry. There is currently a skill shortage in our industry and there is little light at the end of the tunnel especially with the issue of the industry’s age profile. If we are not careful, without succession planning, the skills we need will disappear and will not be replaced. So, strategically we take a long term view by training for the future.” Overall this year’s winner was an exceptional candidate that delivered on all counts, showing real passion in delivering high working standards and for the industry as a whole.
