GJ Plastics Adopts a Bee Hive

GJ Plastics Adopts a Bee Hive
03/09/2021

We have some exciting news here at GJ HQ, having recently adopted a beehive with Black Mountain Honey. One of our print operatives (i won’t mention any names) did ask me where we were going to put it. I am not sure having 40 thousand bees in the factory would be very conducive to large format printing! Obviously, our friends at Black Mountain Honey will be looking after the hive and its inhabitants.

UK Bees The UK population of honey bees has seen a huge decline over the last few decades. It isn’t just a few fewer jars of honey on the shelf. Honey bees are directly responsible for pollinating over 90 of our food crops worldwide. Albert Einstein famously said: “If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would only have four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.” Climate change, pesticides and intensive farming are all to blame for the steady decline of the humble honey bee. The good news is that more and more farmers and artisan producers are setting up hives over the last few years, like our friends at Black Mountain. There is still a long way to reverse the decline, but it is still a step in the right direction.

Printed Aluminium Plaques for Bee Hive Each beehive adopted gets its own personalised plaque with their logo and website on it. GJ Plastics will be producing these plaques on their brand new Jetrix large format, direct to substrate printer. Each A4 size plaque is cut from premium aluminium composite sheet.

Direct UV printed with water and sunlight resistant ink, giving you a vibrant, high quality print.

Uniquely printed plaque is then sent down to Laurence at Black Mountain Honey to be installed onto the front of the adopted hive.

Aluminium composite, often known as dibond, is the perfect material for this type of signage. It is stable, durable and weatherproof, it is also lightweight and relatively cost effective. The plastic core material is made from recycled plastic. Local councils are more widely recycling aluminium composite.

Black Mountain Honey Black Mountain Honey is located in Flintshire, just outside the lovely town of Mold. Having been founded by Laurence and Helen back in 2015. This family-run business produces artisan honey products on a small but commercial scale. They pride themselves on delivering top quality raw honey from their local bees. Every jar can be traced back to the individual apiary it came from. Why not try the online shop, stocked with pots, comb, wedding favours and even bees!

Why not think about adopting your own hive, with a simple all-inclusive annual subscription. You will receive your own honey, honey dippers, gift set, posters and certificate, along with the printed aluminium plaque, which will be securely fixed to your adopted hive. It’s a great way for any company, charity, or organisation to support an artisan producer in producing a great healthy product and improving and diversifying habitats for all pollinator species. So why don’t you adopt a Bee-hive
