Lancashire Police had severe water ingress from the failure of the old bitumen felt roof covering. The building had to remain in constant use throughout the project, therefore hot works and noise disruption from stripping the old felt system was not acceptable to the client. In order to maintain full functionality of the training centre during the re-roofing works, Gables offered a cold applied, breathable liquid membrane that was able to be applied directly to the existing felt, eliminating the risks and disruption associated with hot works and stripping coverings. All moss algae and stone chippings were removed from the deck. Any previous failed repairs were removed and made water tight. The roof was power washed to remove all surface contaminants before applying the Tor Coatings Elastaseal system, consisting of a fully reinforced base coat and a liquid applied top coat giving a 15 year single point guaranteed system. The quality of finish on handover, can clearly be seen on completed application photographs.
