Eurocircuits online PCBs take over from Europrint
The Europrint Group, one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of prototype and small batch printed circuit boards, has changed its name from Europrint N.V. to Eurocircuits N.V. Europrint, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with a day of festivities at its plant in Hungary, set up Eurocircuits in 2000 as its online sales arm. By combining online sales with order-pooling Eurocircuits provided a low-cost source of prototype and short run PCBs. By 2008 online sales represented half of the Group’s business. Today the company reports that virtually all their business comes through the online Eurocircuits operation. The change of name reflects this reality. Dirk Stans, Group Managing Partner responsible for Sales and Marketing, explains: “Today we are wholly web-based operation. Our customers have the convenience of online pricing, ordering and progress-chasing via the website. They have immediate online access to their complete order history. This year we have added new online functionality. Customers can see what their boards will look like before we make them, and when they are finished, access a detailed online report on their materials and production history. Our headquarters in Belgium, our front-end engineering department in India, and our two manufacturing units in Hungary and Germany are seamlessly linked online into a single lean, integrated and automated production unit. Online integration enables us to deliver a wide range of prototype and small batch PCB technologies fast, on time, and at low cost. Almost all our business throughout the world is handled through the Eurocircuits online business model and virtually all our customers know us as Eurocircuits. So our twentieth anniversary was the ideal moment to change the Group name to reflect the way we work.” Luc Smets, Group Managing Partner responsible for Operations, adds: “The old Europrint Group had grown up piecemeal over the years. Over the last 12 months we have been changing the subsidiary company names from Europrint to Eurocircuits. We have now changed the name of the Belgian parent company from Europrint N.V to Eurocircuits N.V. to reflect the real nature of our current business. We have taken the opportunity to simplify the company structure to keep our administration costs to a minimum, so that we can continue to offer the best possible prices to our customers”.
