Cheltenham Tigers Rugby Club

Formed in 1889, the Cheltenham Tigers Rugby Club has steadily grown in size. Relocated twice since its original home at the Athletic Ground, it now stands proudly at Newlands Park. Over the past few years, the club has been fundraising to upgrade their outdated facilities including state-of-the-art floodlights, artificial pitches and sports changing rooms. Stephen Ratcliffe – Club Chairman and Project Manager explained, “The old facilities were built in the 1950s and were no longer fit for purpose with men, women and children needing to use the pitches and changing rooms, it was a logistical nightmare! This was a significant investment into new facilities and we wanted something that will last in excess of 30 years without too much maintenance.” Bushboard Washrooms worked closely with Stephen to deliver bespoke sports changing room that was in keeping with the clubs colours. In the washroom areas, Stephen chose Bushboard’s Baseline toilet cubicle range for its “robust, stylish and practical” design. “Bushboard were very supportive, easy to use and understand during the design and selection processes. They were very helpful with some little bespoke tweaks for us.” Manufactured from Solid Grade Laminate it was important to Stephen to ensure the cubicles and vanities are durable to withstand the rigours of such a demanding environment. Supplied to the club as Ready Plumbed Modules meaning the sanitaryware and brassware were pre-fitted onto the panels in our factory and arrived on site ready to be installed – saving both time and money. Going pre-plumbed made the install “Significantly quicker and more efficient especially as the build had been delayed due to the exceptionally bad winter.” For the sports changing rooms Stephen chose Bushboard’s perimeter benching which features Ash hardwood and black powder coated legs, along with Bushboard’s wall mounted coat hook rail and with dark grey nylon coat hooks. To complement the sports changing rooms, Cheltenham Tigers Club needed secure lockers for the teams. With a strong aluminium carcass and Solid Grade Laminate doors, Bushboard’s stylish changing room lockers were the perfect fit. The clubs new changing rooms have been greatly received, “All our players/parents and supporters love them, it is a massive step forward for the club and its sports provision, not just rugby. The Rugby Football Union are now using our facilities as a benchmark for other clubs”.
