Paul Painter, Zauns Managing Director appeared on Gabby Logans lunch time show on BBC Radio 5 Live last Thursday to discuss how plans to develop a new high-speed rail line between London and Birmingham in 2025 will benefit West Midlands businesses.
Announced by Transport Secretary Lord Adonis, the proposed train line will take 43 minutes to travel between the two destinations at 250 mph and is set to provide a faster transportation link for commuters throughout the country, with the opportunity to develop it further and reach as far as Scotland.
Paul Painter, explained: “Its a step in the right direction as we start to invest in the future. 50 per cent of Zauns business is situated in the South East so the high-speed rail line would help us in that process and would open up a lot more business to us.
“The Midlands generally needs better connections with these areas, as well as Scotland and overseas that can tend to feel quite isolated from us. The Government is encouraging more business from London to settle in Birmingham and the wider region to improve communications between the two locations.”
