Celebrating 100 Years of Schunk

Weiss Technik UK will be celebrating the centennial of it's parent group Schunk, with two customer events in May 2013. The Schunk Group was founded in 1913 by Ludwig Schunk. Weiss Technik UK forms part of the Weiss Group, one of four divisions across the Schunk Group. The Weiss Group brings together environmental simulation technology and climate technology expertise. Solutions are used around the world in research, development, manufacturing and quality assurance for numerous products. The Weiss Group is represented worldwide with 25 subsidiaries in 14 countries. The companies employ about 1,800 people, including approximately 200 engineers and scientists. Our Customer Open Days are a celebration of 100 years of Schunk innovation technology. Schunk Centennial: Plant Growth Customer Day Rothamsted Research Client Site, Harpenden, Herts Wednesday 15th May 2013 Rothamsted Research is the longest running agricultural research station in the world, providing cutting-edge science and innovation. The plant growth research customer day will include a series of talks on the challenges of food security for the future, working with quarantine plant materials and new crop developments. There will be an opportunity to tour the Manor and the famous 'Broadbalk' - the world's longest, continuous field experiment. Rothamsted Research house a range of plant growth research Controlled Environments, from past to present models. Delegates will have the opportunity to tour these facilities and discuss applications. Schunk Centennial: Industrial Open Day Weiss Technik UK Manufacturing Plant, Ebbw Vale, Wales Thursday 16th May 2013 Throughout this celebration day there will be a number of presentations by inhouse and guest speakers on a variety of environmental testing topics. These presentations will be interspersed with a factory tour. There will also be the opportunity to view and operate small and large test chambers.
