The requirement for a power or distribution transformers HV and LV windings to be rewound is often the result of an electrical fault and needs to be replaced for distribution or transmission to re-commence as soon as possible. Depending upon the transformers design, size and external condition, rewinding the LV & HV coils rather than purchasing a new transformer is often up to 30% more cost effective, with lead times also reduced by as much as 50% in some cases.
