In July we gave visitors to the International Cheese Awards, Nantwich, a sneak preview of our new Tetra Tebel Blockformer.
Tetra Tebel Blockformer 6 has now been launched around the world and in this update we reveal some
of the preparation and validation that will ensure this state-of-the-art system will deliver, every time
The picturesque little town of Ballyragget
in County Kilkenny is the home of Glanbia
Dairy Ingredients, part of a global business,
producing fine matured cheddar cheese
in Ireland.
Since 2007 the Ballyragget dairy has been
expanding production. New equipment
has included a high-capacity Tetra Tebel
Alfomatic; a fully enclosed chedddaring
machine that can handle 10 tonnes
an hour.
By mid 2010 blockformer capacity had
reached a bottleneck, which coincided
with the point at which Tetra Pak was
looking for a partner who could help
with the validation of the new
Tetra Tebel Blockformer 6 under full-scale
commercial conditions.
For Tim Purcell, Cheese Plant Manager at
Glanbia, the decision was not too difficult:
“We had several Tetra Tebel Blockformer
units already and have been happy with
Tetra Pak’s supply for nearly 30 years.
The new version sounded tempting,
so we agreed to validate it at our plant
and at the same time get a head start on
our requirements for increased capacity.”
The result is an efficient, reliable cheese
line producing uniform, top quality
blocks of choice, mature cheddar. It has
gained extra flexibility and the capacity
to handle peak season volumes.
